Personal Profile:
|
I am a qualified Modern Pilates Teacher (Matwork level 3), Advanced Pilates Teacher and have also trained in Specialist Pilates for Hip and Knee Conditions and Equipment based Pilates (Step, bands, fitball and weights). I am based in Stourbridge, West Midlands.
I trained as an Exercise to music Instructor RSA/YMCA in 1987 and began teaching Aerobics classes. Over time I added to my qualifications and became an Advanced Studio Instructor and started teaching Step Aerobics, Body Conditioning, Circuit Training and I designed my own popular workout called ‘Step N Pump’ which combines Step Aerobics with Weight Training. I worked at Fitness First and David Lloyd Leisure, The Crystal Leisure Centre, along with my own community based classes. I also spent 6 months working in Malta where I taught a varied timetable of Fitness/Dance classes.
After many years as a Fitness Instructor, I decided to add to my knowledge base and embarked on the safe and clinically-based Modern Pilates whereby I could continue to meet people and reward them with a better educated body.
“The great thing about Modern Pilates is that it is for everyone and the benefits become obvious in every day life – better postures, less aches and pains, ability to cope with bending, lifting, repetitive movements, plus an increase in all over body strength and flexibility that becomes an issue for all as we get older.
The aim is to work the body from the inside out, creating a stronger, flatter mid-section, improving posture, promoting muscle balance, realigning the spine and improving the function and appearance of the body, together with relieving stress and tension.”
I look forward to meeting you! |

Pilates is Whole-Body Fitness
Unlike some forms of exercise, Pilates does not over-develop some parts of the body and neglect others. While Pilates training focuses on core strength, it trains the body as an integrated whole. Pilates workouts promote strength and balanced muscle development as well as flexibility and increased range of motion for the joints.
Attention to core support and full-body fitness -- including the breath and the mind -- provide a level of integrative fitness that is hard to find elsewhere. It is also the reason that Pilates is so popular in rehabilitative scenarios, as well as with athletes who find that Pilates is a great foundation for any other kind of movement practice they do.
MODERN PILATES is based on the original works of German-born Joseph Pilates who designed a series of exercises that uses both mental and physical techniques to condition the body. His methods were used primarily by dancers, however, in recent years these methods have been introduced into the health and fitness industry.
Modern Pilates is a gentle, relaxing from of exercise that focuses on strengthening, stretching and stabilising your joints and muscles. It offers the following benefits:
- strengthens core muscles
- increases joint stability and mobility
- improves your posture
- relieves stress and tension
- helps with recovery and rehabilitation after injury or operations
