My career started in 1981 with the NHS Hearing Services, I trained and qualified and reached senior level as a Audiologist working in a number of hospitals around the UK. I worked with the School of Audiology based at City Hospital Birmingham, teaching Audiology, following that I was the Audiology Services Manager at Queens Hospital, Burton on Trent where I was responsible for a regional diagnostic & rehabilitation department.
I joined the Oak Tree Lane Centre – the only third tier Hearing Rehabilitation service in the UK as Clinical Audiologist; working in a small multi-disciplinary team dealing with challenging cases and assessing clients with profound learning disabilities, severe brain injury and multi-sensory impairment (Deaf and Blind). I have a wealth of experience in many aspects of Audiology including; Paediatrics, Balance disorders, Electrophysiological tests, Tinnitus counselling, and adult rehabilitation including the most advanced Hearing instrument technology & FM systems.
I have also worked in private practice dealing with predominantly premium Hearing aid products. In 1998 I joined a major manufacturer of hearing instruments – Phonak with whom I work as UK Key Projects Manager: I am frequently requested to contribute to various projects both within the UK and Switzerland due to the network – internally, externally and internationally that I have developed over the years. This includes being the key contact for many universities and professional bodies. My eLearning activities have been the vehicle for creating and expanding this network as well as directly contributing to the training and educational needs of professionals. I also lecture at conferences & universities.
I now provide a private earwax removal and ear-care service clinic, as this treatment is now not available within primary care and is effecting many patients across the UK.
