Hopi Ear Candle (Thermal Auricular Therapy)

Thermo-Auricular Therapy is an ancient and natural therapy that has been handed down to us through the mists of time. The ancient Greeks used ear candles but it is from the Native American Hopi Indians of North Arizona, known as the most secretive and peaceful of tribes left in the United States, that the practice of ear candle treatment reached the rest of the world.

The candles themselves are a hollow tube of organically grown flax which is hand made with selected extracts of honey and beeswax, along with well known Indian therapeutic herbs such as sage, St. John’s wort and camomile; they are an all natural product. The candles work on a chimney principle, drawing any impurities to the surface. The pressure flow circulates a concentrated vapour enriched with the herbal extracts inside the ear, effectively protecting irritated zones. Secretion flow is gently stimulated and the vapour collects and removes impurities or deposits, most of which are carried away through the candle ‘chimney’. Some wax can usually be found in the residue after the removal of the candle from the ear. The loosened wax can also work its way to the surface of the ear up to 24 hours later.

The therapy is a gentle none invasive treatment and is indicated for excessive or compacted wax in the ears; irritation in the ear or sinuses; pressure in the cases of headaches or migraines; rhinitis and glue ear; circulatory disturbances of the ears; noises in the ear such as tinnitus along with help in the cases of hearing impairment. The treatment will also help local activation of the lymph and metabolic process and can assist in the stimulation of the energy flow circulation. Is great for relaxation and stress relief and will help in cases of hay fever and even the common cold.

To complete the treatment a gentle face massage is offered should this be required.

Warning. There are many inferior ear candles on the market that are made from paraffin wax, which is a petroleum by-product, or a mixture of paraffin and bees wax. These have no safety features and there have been reports of burns from dripping wax and ash falling onto the client. Pam only uses the best candles that are available.
