
CPPD Training
What is CPPD (Continual Professional Personal Development)? The Health Professions Council defines CPPD as “a range of learning activities through which health professionals maintain and develop throughout their career to ensure that they retain their capacity to practice safely, effectively and legally within their evolving scope of practice".
How does CPPD benefit you as a therapist?
CPPD Is a type of post graduate training that ensures that you as a therapist are kept up to date of changes within the industry, and keeps you in line with best practice skills to benefit your clients. This can include product training.
Vocational qualifications are the starting point for your learning, extending your knowledge base through CPPD further develops your skills. This can be from a variety of different sources to include experience based learning i.e. Case studies as well as professional training. By learning new skills and techniques you will be able to offer more to your clients, making you more successful as a practitioner. CPPD is a continuous process.
As the Therapy industry becomes regulated and self-regulation is implemented all therapist will be required to undertake CPPD Training every year. This training will be monitored on a point scoring system.
CPPD is the mark of a true professional. Anyone who wants to be taken seriously by the orthodox medical profession should realise that CPPD is evidence of professionalism.
CPPD is normally calculated on an annual basis. If you are a member of a professional organisation you will be given guidance on the requirements. The FHT (Federation of Holistic Therapists) has the following point scoring system
