Bowen Therapy
A simple yet effective technique that can help relieve all kinds of pain, it is so gentle that it can be used on anyone, from newborn infants to the elderly.
The Bowen Technique is not massage, acupressure or chiropractic. There is no manipulation, adjustment or force used. The practitioner uses thumbs and fingers to do rolling type moves over muscles. In between each set of moves, the practitioner leaves the room. This is a unique feature of the technique as is allows the body to make subtle changes and there by bringing the body back into balance.
It can offer rapid, long-lasting relief from pain and discomfort. Most conditions respond within 2-3 treatments – but ongoing maintenance is generally recommended.
While it can help speed up recovery time, the Bowen Technique is not meant to replace medical treatment. However, due to its high rate of success, more and more members of the medical profession continue to be amazed at its effectiveness and have begun to add the Bowen Technique to their practices.
Some of the conditions which have responded well to the Bowen treatment include back and neck pain, sciatica, knee problems, sports injuries, RSI, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow and respiratory problems. Conditions such as chronic fatigue, hay fever, head ache, kidney problems and problems requiring lymphatic drainage have also responded favourably to the Technique.
