VTCT Level 3 Diploma Sports Massage Therapy

Sports massage may be applied to any region of the body generally or in a incorporated into a routine, the term is all embracing and because it has such a wide application it is best understood in terms of the outcomes required from the treatment.

Delivery of the course

This course is continually assessed by both theory and practical based assessments. You will be required to undertake home study, which forms a crucial part of your training. It is also recommended that you form links with the sports industry to obtain practical experience and an understanding of the industry

If your health and safety qualification is not current (within the last 3 years) then you will be required to sit a multiple choice paper, set by the Awarding body. 

Over the duration of this course you will be required to build a portfolio of evidence and submit this on completion of your course. You will be required to undertake a series of case studies in your own time. These case studies form an important part of your portfolio of evidence to deem you competent. Field trips may be included outside of the course timetable.

Timetable of the course

At holistic training solutions we offer this program over a 23 week period 4 hours per week for a course prospectus down load course time table as a PDF file.

Entry level for this course is as follows

  • A level 3 Certificate in Swedish massage or equivalent
  • Level 3 Diploma in Anatomy and physiology or equivalent

There is also pre-requisite to this qualification of the following units however these can be undertaken simultaneously with this course.

  • VR02    Support health safety and security in the workplace
  • VR074  Support employment standards
  • VR17    Certificate in Swedish Body massage

The mandatory units of this course are as follows:

  • VR132 Provide sports massage therapy in all environments
  • VR163 Understand and advise on muscle function in physical activity
  • VR164 Understand musculo-skeletal injuries and conditions and advise on post medical sports massage treatments
  • First aid for therapists

Funding Status

This course is funded through learner support fund for academic year 2007-2008 to those learners who are eligible for a grant, please ask for details.
